City conference

2021’s City Conference theme was “Explore” - Explore the City, Explore the Gospel!

Over 60 students joined us for this event across the three campuses! At the break of dawn on Saturday the 18th of September, each campus set out to explore the city. Each campus got to visit a nature spot for a hike, an art gallery and a lunch spot! After exploring the city, all the campuses then gathered together at one of our partner churches, Bryanston Bible Church!

After the fun and games, students heard from our Conference speaker, Zwai Zulu, COSA alumni and Pastor of Discipleship at Rosebank Union Church, explored some common misconceptions about the gospel, as well and the important truths that each person needs to wrestle with! Students were encouraged to take the next steps in their journey of exploring the Christian faith.

After the talk, campuses were given the opportunity to go into the break-out room to discuss some of the thought-provoking questions that were raised during the gospel presentation. It was encouraging to grapple with their perceptions and thoughts around the truths of the gospel. These conversations continued long into the evening as each campus set out for a dinner together. Through the Explore City Conference, new relationships were formed and also furthered both relationally and in understanding the gospel!

KHULA CONFERENCE

In the place of our annual Leader’s Project we hosted our first-ever Khula Conference!

The conference was geared towards helping students involved in our ministry grow in their walk with the Lord.  60 students came to the conference! By His grace, we planted and watered the seed but God makes it grow for His glory!

Identity

In this session, Jeff, Kgaugelo, Siyanda, and Maddie spoke on what it means to have our identity rooted and shaped in Christ. How sin fractured our relationship with God, others, ourselves and creation; and how the gospel redeems them

Community

Melisizwe and Michael gave training on the importance of the Christian community and why being an active member in the local church is essential. Two of our student leaders gave testimonies on how being part of the CO community and a member at RUC has greatly impacted them.

Missional Living

Christo and Themba in this session helped all of us know the importance of obeying the great commission and how every Christian is on mission in sharing and living out the gospel wherever they are!
